Understanding Your Prescription:
- OD: Right eye (Latin: oculus dexter)
- OS: Left eye (Latin: oculus sinister)
- OU: Both eyes (Latin: oculus uterque)
Prescription Terms:
- SPH (Sphere): Indicates the diopter (D) needed for vision correction. A minus sign (-) shows myopia (nearsightedness), while a plus sign (+) indicates hyperopia (farsightedness). KLENSPOP offers colored contacts for myopia correction only.
- CYL (Cylinder): Shows the diopter needed for astigmatism correction. The further from 0, the more astigmatism you have. A blank cell means no astigmatism correction is needed.
- Axis: Ranges from 0 to 180, showing the orientation of your astigmatism. Cylinder and Axis values must appear together. Sometimes written with an "x" between values in handwritten prescriptions.
Prescription Validity
Under US law, contact lens prescriptions are valid for 1-2 years from the issue date, depending on your state. The validity period starts from the prescription issue date, which may differ from your eye exam date.
No Prescription?
A valid prescription is required for all orders shipped to the United States. This is a legal requirement that we must follow to ensure your eye health and safety.
You can get an online eye exam and prescription from Opternative for US$40. After receiving your prescription, simply email it to rx@klenspop.com or upload it with your order.
